Salam!

The smokey eye look is one of my absolute faaaaavorite looks. Depending on the colors you use and how dramatic the smokey effect you create is, you could wear it day and night! Of course, during the day, you should subdue the look a bit.

Kim Kardashian is definitely known to create one of the best smokey eyes I've seen. Here are some pictures of the many smokey eye looks she has created, followed by a video of Kim K. and her makeup artist showing us just how to get this sought after look. Enjoy!

I really appreciate people who give back as humanitarians or just by being productive members of society. I think that giving back to others is such great charity and charity is so important in our magnificent Deen of Islam. Masha'Allah, in the Middle-East, one superb example of true inner beauty, intelligence, and philanthropic efforts is the remarkable, H.H Sheikha Mozah Bint Nasser al-Missned, wife of, and consort to, the Emir of Qatar, H.H. Sheikh Hamad Bin Khalifa Al-Thani. Her Highness greatly values education and has done so much to stress the importance of having education made available to everyone.

According to her website, http://www.mozahbintnasser.qa/output/page2.asp:

"As Consort, Her Highness' roles are many and varied, and extend beyond domestic borders. She is a social activist and the driving force behind a host of innovative and ground breaking programs in Qatar, the region and the world.

A public figure with significant responsibilities, Her Highness shares the Emir's vision to make Qatar a prosperous, developed and sustainable society. She has been instrumental in setting up centers of excellence to enhance opportunities for the people of Qatar and to build the nation's resources in regard to education, science, community development, health and other areas. She is also actively involved in preserving and protecting Qatar's cultural heritage..

Her Highness' commitment to progressive education and community welfare in Qatar and her strong advocacy for closer relations between the Islamic world and the West have earned her the respect of numerous international groups. Her most recent award is the Prize of the Royal Institute for International Affairs from Chatham House, a world renowned British think tank that focuses on contemporary global affairs. Her Highness is the first Arab and the first woman to be awarded the Prize.

An international leader, Her Highness currently serves as UNESCO's Special Envoy for Basic and Higher Education. In this role, she promotes literacy in the Arab world and Asia. She is also developing a proposal to put before the UN Security Council to declare schools a safe haven in regions where there is instability and conflict, and to establish an international tribunal to prosecute crimes against education.

On the 7th of October 2009, Her Highness Sheikha Mozah bint Nasser Al Missned delivered a speech at the 35th session of UNESCO's general conference in Paris emphasizing the importance of quality education in shaping a peaceful world. Her Highness noted in her address that the right to education amounts to the right to live stressing that quality education prepares children, teenagers and young men to face life armed with the necessary knowledge, experience and skills enabling them to adapt to all the changes and pressures regardless of their causes.

Her Highness is also a member of the High Level Group of the UN Alliance of Civilizations which was established to assess the forces that contribute to extremism and recommend collective action to counter those forces. As part of this effort, she has proposed groundbreaking initiatives to create a region-wide youth employment program and to promote media literacy to counter the under-representation of Islam and Arabs. Her Highness has also proposed a youth mobilisation movement for Muslim youth to focus on West/Islam cross-cultural understanding.

In all aspects of her work, Her Highness is guided by her faith in Islam, her dedication to the Emir's vision for the future, a deep respect for traditional values, and a commitment to the highest possible standards."

To learn more about H.H. Sheikha Mozah, you should definitely visit her website. She's truly an inspiring individual and an amazing role model for young women and everyone really, to aspire to be like. In addition to all of her efforts, H.H. Sheikha Mozah has great style! She always looks very elegant and poised while remaining modest. She has landed on many best-dressed lists, and it's pretty clear why. Enjoy the pix!

Salam everyone! Sorry, I have not posted for so long! Sub7an'Allah how quickly time flies! Insha'Allah you are all doing well.....

So, while flipping through magazines, I noticed that there are so many Arabian inspired jewelry lately! Since ancient times, jewelry and body adornments have been popular with Arab girls all over the Middle-East. Jewelry is not only used to decorate the body, but also to showcase class and wealth. There is no particular design that is worn, but gold is very popular. During weddings, jewelry is given to the bride in abundance, usually as a dowry.

From earrings and necklaces to bracelets, rings, and anklets, costume to gold, diamonds, or gemstones, one thing they all have in common: they are all BIG! Yes, yes gaudiness is prevelant! But, of course, everyone has different taste, some people like really simple, but elegant pieces of jewelry and others prefer really flashy, yet CLASSY pieces. Hmm, can ya guess which I prefer :P lol actually, it all really depends on the occasion. No matter what kind you prefer, and whether you're wearing it out or admiring it in your boudoir, jewelry makes us all feel GlaMorOus! Enjoy the pix!

Salam all! So, this is kinda interesting. GS Fitch, a design consultancy firm in Dubai has recently come up with a new design of sunglasses made to emulate the Emirati burqa, seen below:

If you aren't familiar with the burqa, it is a face shield covering the nose and forehead traditionally worn by women in the United Arab Emirates and other countries fil Khaleej, as protection from the sun and as a veil. It is not as popular today as it was in the past, but this Khaleeji burqa is still seen sometimes, worn by older Emirati women and some younger ladies as well.

According to the brand's website, the sunglasses are made of gold and resin because the metal is "a renowned status symbol." The idea behind the concept was to create something that blended culture and style. Here is a picture of the new sunglasses:

BQ even posted this video to give you an in-depth look at how they came up with the idea for these shades:

You can pre-order a pair at the brand's website, where there is even an option to see how you would look like in a pair! lol

What do you think of these sunglasses? Would you buy a pair?

Salam everyone! Insha'Allah you are all well.

So, the United Arab Emirates celebrates its 38th National Day tomorrow December 2nd. The United Arab Emirates (UAE) is comprised of seven emirates: Abu Dhabi, Dubai,
Sharjah, Ajman, Fujeirah, Umm Quwain and Ras al Khaimah. For the past three decades, the UAE has had many socio-economic achievements that started out with a development of human resources and by cultural and economical expansions that have led to the strength and stability of the nation today. The UAE stands out among the Arab countries as the most modern and stable and this is all due to the leadership of the late Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan, Allah yrhamah. After it's independence on December 2, 1971, thirty-eight years ago, the UAE was created and ruled by the late Sheikh Zayed. It has been five years since his passing, but Sheikh Zayed's impressive legacy lives on through his nation's citizens and can be seen by generations to come, Insha'Allah, through the nation's accomplishments.

UAE National Day will be celebrated with 61 events highlighting UAE history, culture and achievements. Citizens already jump started the holiday today by decorating cars and celebrating with a parade. Here is a clip of the parade that was held today:

And of course, nothing in the Arab world is complete without..... a message from Nancy Ajram! lol Enjoy!
